Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Christmas Eve Open Stage Jam from 1968...

Anyone know anything about this "open stage" jam from X-mas eve of 1968?

I would not know about this show if it had not been included in a care package I recieved from Arbuthnot.

It's not the Grateful Dead, or Mickey and the Hartbeats, and maybe not even Jerry Garcia & Friends? But it is some pretty cool, stretched-out blues jamming. It's alao likely that some of these notes spilled over into Christmas morning...

12/24/68 Matrix - San Francisco, CA

Jerry, Elvin Bishop and Steve Miller with the Harvey Mandel Band

Jam> Jam, Feel It, Three O'Clock in the Morning, Mojo Worker, Jam

Some might find these extended blues excursions a bit tedious, but I think these are some pretty interesting jams, and certainly some top-notch musicianship!

Happy Christmas!

I got it off of etree a month or so ago and think that it was listed there as Jerry Garcia & The Harvey Mandel Band. That first jam gets me every time. Merry Christmas to you Cliff!

No, hadn't seen this (unless it's in one of the disks I still have to "unpack" from him too!).

Have a great Christmas, CLIFF!

Thanks for the link Cliff, I've been seeking out some Harvey Mandel recently and I like what I'm hearing from him.
